Lakewood Fence Permit Information

The City of Lakewood requires a permit before installing a new fence, replacing a fence, or making significant changes to an existing fence’s location, height, material, type, or style. Lakewood’s fence regulations also include specific placement requirements that can be especially important on closely spaced properties. Fences may be installed adjacent to a property line but not directly on it, and the property owner is responsible for confirming the boundary. When a new fence will run beside an existing neighboring fence, the city generally requires either no separation or at least two feet of space between them for maintenance.
